Parents Role
Parents and/or guardians are
crucial to the success of the teen driver and DS wants to
partner with the parent to achieve the best results for
their student. Time must be allotted to the teen driver in
which the skills learned during the behind the wheel (BTW)
sessions can be practiced with the student's parent /
guardian. WA law requires a student to receive a minimum of
50 hours of BTW time, 10 of which must be night driving. The
student will only receive six of those 50 hours with an
Instructor, unless additional drives are scheduled (extra
fees apply). You, as the parent / guardian, will be required
to sign an affidavit affirming those hours have been
achieved when the student goes to get their license.
Parents will be
REQUIRED
to attend the first session at Driving School, with their
student. Only one parent need attend. Parents unable to
attend will need to schedule another time to be briefed on
the requirements of the Intermediate Licensing program
adopted by WA State, receive information on the curriculum
presented by DS and Organ donation, and ask questions of the
staff.
Students will not
be allowed to complete the Final Exam and/or Final Drive
without having had the Parent Orientation satisfied.
