“I’m not planning to enroll in driver’s ed currently. I just want my permit to practice driving.”
If you don’t plan to enroll in driver’s ed for your permit you must meet the following qualifications first:
- Be age 15 ½ or older
- Get a WDL# (if you don’t already have state ID with a WDL# on it). Pre-apply here.
- Sign up for a WA State License eXpress account (you’ll need to log into License eXpress to take the test, please arrive with your credentials, plus other identifying info they may need).
- Take your Knowledge Test and pass it with 80% or higher. Visit our testing availability.
